SELMET Corp. is a corporation of enterprises with presence in the Central American region (Guatemala, Nicaragua, Mexico and Costa Rica) and the Caribbean, whose main business is the purchase, classification and sale of metal scrap (steel, aluminum, copper, bronze, zinc and stainless steel) to the international market. The group began recycling operations in 1993, primarily in boat salvage having dismantled ships up to 3,000 tons. In 1999, the company started operations in Central America based in Guatemala. SELMET Corp. has developed expertise in dismantling and recycling medium and large structures such as million-gallon oil tanks, heavy machinery and train cars. SELMET Corp. has the specialized machinery required to cut, compact and transport of scrap, which has allowed the optimization of the dismantled material.
